Agressive Insuring.

Postby rabblergon » Thu Aug 27, 2015 6:46 pm

The nightmare that is insurance companies.

Two years I had issues with a certain insurance Broker who do business with clubs. They quibbled over licence details and such and I ended paying a 'penalty'. At the time they were more or less the only one - so it was Hobson's choice. The following year I insured through Insurance Choice who were no problem whatsoever and also used Highway (part of LV).

Wind forward to this year's renewal and the 'certain broker' offered a much better rate than IC. It was a big mistake to go for this cheaper rate.
I have had to provide copies of both driver's licences (photocard both sides) and licence codes so they could check them. Also they rejected the renewal from IC as proof of no claims and claimed they were unable to get a copy from IC as that was breaking Data Protection rules.

Another letter from this 'certain insurance broker' and they now claim I was responsible for not declaring a non claim motor accident on our car which at the time was insured for my wife with her as registered keeper and myself as named driver. I am now keeper and have her as named driver - easy mistake? It was her insurance at the time so had declared to this 'certain insurance broker' as a non claim on that! Of course this means a change to the insurance and paying a penalty to the broker for that!

All I really want to say is cheapest is not always best and ITS ABOUT TIME there was a WATCHDOG ON INSURANCE BROKERS!

If I'm honest, I've heard more bad things than good about AF.

Last couple of years I've gone through Greenlight Insurance. ~£270 (iirc) fully comp with everything declared. It's the first time I've been able to pay car insurance in one go, rather than monthly installments.

I asked for details of their regulator - just so I could pass comment on their 'processes'. I am still waiting.

You can hire a lawyer specialized in car accidents who will surely assist you in a better way. These insurance companies also have hidden charges and they don't provide full compensation.
