Project Mugen del Sol (States Edition)

Postby The_Reverend » Wed Dec 02, 2009 4:09 pm

Well I guess the best way to start of this build thread about my car is I guess some history about myself and on the car itself and it’s present condition, and the future plans that are in store for this vehicle.

For those who don’t really know me that well, I live in sunny Phoenix, Arizona and have been involved with Honda del Sol’s since 2004. I used to own a 1982 Delorean, and when I sold that I really needed a reliable daily driver. I found a Captiva Blue del Sol for sale on Autotrader, and I instantly fell in love with it after I drove it.

I eventually sold it because someone offered me WAY more than I paid for it, and I realized that this was something that I could do to make some extra cash, buying and selling del Sol’s. So I bought all the local sol’s that were decently priced and resold them. Then I started traveling to California to find other sol’s that needed minor work and resold them here in Arizona. My nickname was given to me by a friend from the Arizona del Sol club. At one of our meets he says to me, “Your like a Reverend, you save sols. And I guess it just stuck after that.

Now the project car that i’m working on right now is a 1992 Honda del Sol SiR with Transtop. I bought it back in 2006 from a guy in Buffalo, NY. He bought it from some now defunct import company, and tried to register it as a kit car, which almost worked but he was missing some paperwork and they only gave him a plate, an issued vin, and registration, but no title.

When I first picked it up, it was a Captiva Blue color, the driverside seat was blown, and had some various dings and scratches. It was a far cry from the "perfect condition" that it was advertised as, but I didn’t care though, it was a real deal SiR, and I flew 2k miles to get here so **** it. So I drove this thing all the way from NY to AZ in about 3 days. Had a few issues, a transmission oil leak and a really really wierd ECU/fuel cut off problem, but I was happy none the less.

I drove this car like I stole it everywhere. Being on the RIGHT side is hella fun. Plus you get looks everywhere you go, and that’s just what i’m looking for because i’m an attention whore ^_^ just keeping it real folks. lol.

I ran into some legal problems in 2006 and 2007 so the car sat for awhile in my mom’s garage. Finally after much debate and consideration, I decided to tear down the car and redo it from the ground up as a Mugen CR-X Pro 3.

Image

The Pro.3 kit from Mugen is just… in my personal opinion... sex. I fell in love with that kit after I saw Noel’s Black del Sol with the Mugen kit on it. I wanted my car to be just like his, or atleast inspired by his.

So I wanted to change the color of the car to Frost White, and to do it right, you have to tear down the whole car.

Don't let the pictures fool you. Car isn't done. Nothing is bolted down. Just wanted to see what it looks like put together.

It's slammed because the car has no suspension. I'm getting a full Mugen suspension and the drop is 1.75 inches.

Is it just me or does the wheels need spacers to make them fit nice and flush with the body?

But to be fair, my wife even said that burd had a fine ass and she wouldn't mind some
