Guys
Does anyone know a kit available in the UK or have a list of what is needed? and has anyone done this with a breather?
The info below was taken from a US honda forum just need clarity of the sizes and threads are correct?
This was done on a 92-95 Honda Civic. The procedure is identical for 93-97 Honda Civic del Sols and 94-01 Acura Integras. You can also follow this procedure on 96-00 Honda Civics, but you do not need all of the parts that the other cars do (see parts list for details).
So, you've removed all of your power steering parts, but now you are left with 3 holes in the steering rack, leaving the inside of the rack exposed to the elements.
Let's get those holes covered up, the right way. The way to do this is with a loop. This allows the fluid that is left in the rack to flow freely. You do not want to remove all of the fluid from the rack, because it keeps the insides of the rack nice and lubricated.
Parts list:
18" -6 AN Braided Steel Line (or rubber, whatever you want really)
(2) -6 AN Hose Ends
-6 AN to 14mm x 1.5 Fitting
-6 AN to 16mm x 1.5 Fitting
The next parts on the list are not needed on 96-00 Civics.
You have two options here:
1. You can use a Honda flywheel bolt to plug up the third hole (12mm x 1.0 threads... hard to find at hardware stores). They are cheap from the dealership though and are the cheaper of these two options.
2. You can use a 12mm x 1.0 to -6 AN fitting and a -6 AN cap. The fitting is also difficult to find but can be found on eBay.
You do not need these exact brands, but you do need these sizes. You could probably go a little shorter on the hose than the 18", but 18" is fine.
