Sorry for the late update but to be honest nothing had been happening with the car over the last few months due to some personal circumstances and me moving, got a bigger garage now even though I didn't have a sardine tin before but every little extra room helps as Tesco say when they are not making up numbers
Getting married (very!) soon and after we finally moved in she tells me she wants the mini there as the wedding car...this was an issue with me as I had plans to keep it tucked away for another 6 months then start on it, so with only six weeks to go till the day it was a bit of a tall order as the time that I didn't have was closing in but thought I'd give it a crack!
So six weeks to go I unwrap the other mistress in my life and had a good look, had the dreaded leak from what I thought was the vtec solenoid but obviously it was the usual suspect so got some new gubbins
But then typical snapped the 'usual' bolt so another ordered, 10mm cam cap cover bolt, luckily the other half was still protruding so mole grips on and out and disaster averted!
Four weeks to go and needed a MOT so after booking it in I replaced the windscreen due to a crack
Then after no driving for 18 months...
Pass! green light for some more mayhem
Three weeks to go and I need to get the front end resprayed, she was happy with the rattle can front end
but I wasn't as it was embarrassing to say the least
phoned round quite a few places but they all said about two weeks...no good, finally managed to find someone as he wanted to get his mitts into a b20 mini and didn't mind squeezing it in around his already hectic schedule
massive thanks fella
Picked it up last week
Two weeks to go, no time to work on car!
One week to go and get a few other niggly things done and managed to squeeze in a meet with some other minis
Three days to go and finished off a couple of small jobs so now am just waiting for my wedding ribbons to come through which is less stressful
I've been running Yoko 165/60/12 tyres since the start of the b20 on here but they just wasn't sleeper enough for me as the sidewalls sit flat so wanted to get the original size 145/70/12's on as they have a more rounded sidewall - its all about looks people!
But if the sleet starts then straight back to the Yokos!
Here's the Yoko 165's
And the Falken 145's
Tyres tuck nicely in the arches, more rounded sidewall all round and just a general feeling of some impending demoralising due out on the road
Still need to put the correct tyre pressures in and get the suspension alignment done again sometime as it was done on the 165's but as these have a now 70 profile ratio as opposed the 60 before you get a slight rub on my inner wheel arch at full lock, nothing major just annoying so I know as soon as I crank up the hi los up a tad the other settings will be out, will leave that to another time though, I can handle a small annoying factor in the meantime
Just chucking in some pics, you've probably seen them before but its getting near its sleeper status now
ECU port accessible from dummy radio fascia
Have to warn garages - DON'T lift and there is a fifth
All looking good and on track so far
