the bonnet was a long drawn out affair. i had a mate do it from school, who charged to much money took to long and done a rubbish job tbh, so i put the word out and a local bloke who does graff took up the challenge. took him 1 week and charged £40. then it needed 4 coats of laquer which i got done for free. just needs flatting and polishing now

Nice color :)

solrider1985 wrote:made some more progress this weekend. had car transported to bodyshop to have the first stage of respray done. started building it back up today. still a fair way to go but coming along nicely. in some of the pics the car looks greeny/blue. but it is a pastely baby blue. and is to say the least in your face

and a pic of the back. sounds good with the roof on or off. loud enough to make my eyes vibrate. stealth enough to look decent and not look completely out of place

Re: somerset del sol. new stereo setup fitted 23/12/13

Postby solrider1985 » Tue Jul 29, 2014 11:00 pm

major update.

things added since the last update.

shmidt th line 16x8.5 et 18 front 16x9's rear et 14 with 195/45/16 tyres. 8 degrees of camber on the rear 6 degrees of camber on the front
modified d2 rear camber arms
bc coilovers
stock del sol leather seats

have been having trouble with the front of the car. from standard the bc springs are pretty soft, 10kg front 8kg rear. the coilovers at the front are set all the way down and I have had the obvious trouble of the uppwer arms fouling the shock tower. so I have had the shock tower modified to make more room. it helped but didn't solve the problem, so I put 14kg springs on the front and I don't have it fouling any more but sits to high. so am just in the process of changing front springs for 12kg. will get more pics up later

well since the last update I have been working on the del sol for the past 6 months. bought another sir for the engine and other bits e.t.c have been busy removing engine and starting the cleaning/tucking process. here is a list of some of the things I have done

bay semi smoothed and front radiator mounts relocated to accept a integra radiator. then painted frozen white
interior out to accept extended loom e.t.c
all engine loom plugs moved to inside the car
b16a stripped cleaned and painted, many parts have gone on
relocated the prop valve to subframe
all new copper brake pipes put it

here is a shortened down list of things that have gone on/going on

rocker cover graffitti'd
works engineering crank pulley
works engineering power steering pulley
works engineering alternator pulley
cambelt covers painted gloss black
alternator painted gloss black
ngk blue leads
skunk 2 70mm throttle body
aem v2
stainless 4-1 manifold
downstar dress up bolts (70% of the entire engine compartment bolts replaced)
downstar fuel line tuck kit
downstar clutch line tuck kit
new ball joints
new wheel bearings
new track rod ends
mpc motorsport drop forks
reconditioned steering rack
air con deleted

the list goes on, I have had to tool myself up for this aswell so things like engine crane/stand, brake pipe flaring kit, compressor/air line/water trap e.t.c e.t.c

am at the stage where engine is ready to go on. gotta fildd;e with the brake pipes a bit to get them neater and closer to the body but there all bled up and no leaks :)

yeh I will be at japfest on stand with you lovely lot. looking forward to seeing everyone and looking at everyone else's sol. yeh its been about 6 months of solid work and not to mention a lot of money. now its coming together its finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!. I will get a better pic of rocker cover today when I got to work. manifold is from superstreet performance there around £210

been in the garage just tidying up the brake pipes a bit need a couple of p clips to finish that of. and just cleaned the p/s hoses as they were a bit gruby.

of to work in a bit to get the paint stripper on the other bonnet I bought holes have been welded (washer holes)

things I need to buy ready for engine to be put in

driveshafts
lambda sensor
2 fans to mount on the front of radiator
mate up the downpipe to decat
oil e.t.c

thanks for all the comments :)
