Operate the roof/transtop with rear window down

Postby SiR_chris » Mon Jun 25, 2012 10:09 pm

Courtesy of AdamJosey - cheers dude!

This simple trick will allow you to operate the transtop and rear electric boot without having to worry if the rear window is up.

1. Disconnect battery...!!!

2. Remove rear storage bins and locate electronical plug to rear window under fuel filler pipe:

3. As you look at the plug with the push clip being at the top, the wire you need to earth is the solid red one. It is the wire on the bottom row... Second in from the left hand side with the push clip being at the top of the plug...!!!

Do not break the connection of the red wire just simple earth it to a good earthing point on the car body, or if you want to be flash, find the nearest wired earthing point.

Just use a pair of wire strippers and gentle remove a section of plastic sleave from the red wire and then connect a second earthing wire, i would suggest putting a spot of solder on the connection then wrap with electrical tape.

4. Reconnect battery!!!!!

So you did the mod too then Chris? Your light for the rear window still working on the dashboard too like mine?

Its frickin awesome mod, the amount of times I used to get out the car and not be able to open the boot because I forgot about the rear window!

Asked the alarm installer to do it for me. Cost me an extra £20 lol. He used a relay or two and took it from the timed outputs on the alarm

just recently bought my delsol without the transtop working and with mine the switch was knackered so i just cut the green and the red wire and striped the black one back a little and attached the red there and everything is working!

Many thanks Chris for this excellent how to.
I finally got round to doing mine and this is almost certainly one of the quickest, simplest and most useful mods.
If it is any help to others I used a quick splice wiring connector to earth the red wire to the rear bulkhead screw 6 inches away.
