Bike rack for the DelSol?

Postby whiffin » Mon May 19, 2008 4:28 pm

First of all, I've run a search and found this one:
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=21812&p=213361&hilit=bike+rack#p213361

BUT, I don't like the way that it sites on the spoiler. When I got my car the spolier was loose. The other day I took it apart and realised here was only one decent fixing bolt, the others were all broken. Anyway, one I couldn't get decent, and the other two I've put a heli-coil in which seems to be quite sturdy, so basically I have one good bolt and two half decent ones, nice and tight spolier now. BUT, I don't fancy putting 2 mountain bikes on it!

So, is there any bike racks (or dimesnsions so I can buil one) that don't use the spoiler as a fixing point? Ideally one that sort hooks under the lid or something?

Anyone home built one?

Thanks
whiffin

dude that one i posted usws no spoiler mounts. its designed for cars like the sol where there is a spoiler to avoid. its weight is mostly on the boot and the straps that hook around the end of the boot.

Checking out these posts, as my old Halfords special bike rack doesnt fit a Del sol, my previouse car Accord, and before that Civic no probs, however the Del sol no chance, noticing these posts are very old , can anyone help?
My car doesnt have a rear spoiler !
Any help as to where a rack can currently be bought would be appreciated .
