Your a true craftsman, fantastic work , my crx is rust free apart from the rear arches, ive tried to get new rear arches, no luck, and been quoted £800 .to have them re fabricated, and that's the only bodyshop ive found that will touch it, I hate the catty route, much prefer to have the job done properly, everyone's advice is scrap the car and get a different one, I hate that route as well because as ive mentioned everywhere else is rust free, and the car is so good .its reliable and drives like brand new, it's a 1993, any advice ?
Charley .. If your on Facebook contact Rob Blake as he has recently done mine.. I can show you a few photos if you add me as a friend " John Nugent " hope this helps
Sorry I haven't been on in ages but wow, thank you! To be honest it wasn't terribly hard to make the panels up, but time consuming which obviously just adds to labour costs if it's not something you can do yourself. I'd be happy to make up repair panels like these if that was any help, but they would obviously still need shaping and welding on so not sure it would actually save you much time/ money in the long run. It's unfortunate you can't get panels for them and repair costs get to really what the car is worth - I only paid about £450 for this car so is totally uneconomical doing this amount of work but that in itself is half the reason I wanted to! Speaking of which after a lot of set backs it's finally been moved out to paint and hopefully June will be the month it reappears... hopefully
Been caught up with work and other projects recently, but this is now getting close to being "finished" finally. Refurbished my rocker cover a wee while ago and got a dc2 airbox with a spoon filter to replace the oem one
I found some Honda Legend twinpot calipers in a scrapyard ages ago, and got hold of some free (used) BMW mini discs which are 282mm and 4x100 - not a bad brake upgrade for less than £20
Got the repairs all finished and everything lining up well
Then the big day i got it moved out to my friends unit so we could get it painted!
Cut up my parts car - managed to fit the whole thing in the back of a regular sized transit, and got £19 for it from the scrappys
Stripped the last parts of it ready for paint
Whole car was high build primed and blocked down, not fun
And then, at last...
Over the moon with the colour and the job my friend made of painting it - really looks amazing in person. Been busy building up as much as i can, got new tyres and braided brake lines, so time to fill it all up with fluids, get it back together and in for an mot. Cant be long now, surely
Well been slaving away and getting towards the end now, got the car all flattened down and polished but could probably do with another once over - always want perfection when its your own car you're doing just got my bumpers and sideskirts back this week so refitted them, changed the tailpipe on the exhaust, had a tonne of problems getting it running properly - discovered the timing belt had skipped but someone compensated for it by just adjusting the dizzy, so new belt and a lot of messing about its now idling and running better than ever. Found out my front calipers were siezed so currently waiting on the rebuild kit being delivered then i can get it booked in for an mot and try and catch some sun before it goes away again for winter
