You don't have to take the engine out to check the main bearings so maybe do that first? Gutted for you mate, but knowing you, you'll come out of this with something much better and done properly! Hold onto the end goal!

I know Alison, I should of listen to you and also taken the effort it took to buy the car as a sign!

Whats done is done, just got to get on with it, I really do not want to break the car. It has a pretty sound body and chassis, plus there are far too many Del Sol's being broken at the moment, its quite scary how many are being broken for parts especially good one.

Saved 3 from this fate so far, Sil, Victor and this B20. At some point it will get to the point where people will break a Sol but there will be no one with one that needs the parts! As no one has a car to put the parts on!

Yes Chris was thinking of dropping the manifold completely off and taking sump pan off, but wasn't sure how restrictive the view was of bearings...?

Doing that without a lift is a pain, did the same with mine. My worry would be that when John came to Japfest he was burning/losing a lot of oil, If this was run with little/no oil the damage could be everywhere and anywhere.

I knew he had a oil leak on the engine, didn't realise he drove it all the way to Japfest and back with little or no oil!

I can get the car up very high, but going to all that effort then probably finding what I am expecting to find will mean the engine got to come out. You can't change the main bearings with the engine still in the car, plus I'll have to get the whole block blasted and deep hot soaked to make sure no little bits of metal are hiding anywhere. That if it is the bottom end...

No idea what the cause was. All I know is when it arrived it sounded worse than a diesel with no oil, nothing on the dipstick from what I can remember.

Odear... Going to have another look through receipts post Japfest and see if anything was put down!

Doesn't sound hopeful for it being a minor problem with this engine then :(

Adam,
I thought it only right to apologise on this thread as to the state of the engine and the other Mechanical issues.
I had no prior knowledge of any faults other than the slight oil leak which was seemingly fixed at the umpteenth try by DAZ which he told me was due to a faulty oil sensor on the engine. I put my whole trust into this guy and I now see that despite prior warnings by some members of the pros and cons of Daz I still went ahead and done it.

Could you please send me anymore photos of the damage or any other issues you have come across and anything I could use as evidence against Daz, Dnr or that other Company he now runs as I am seeking legal advice as that engine could of cost me more than the £13k I spent on it. johnrnugent@blueyonder.co.uk

I have also sent you a Pm to apologise..

John

The car was picked up by Daz and trailered back to his Garage where it was totally stripped down and everything checked. ( His words not mine ) at least twice since that time and despite me asking for photographic proof of things being done I never got it as he kept coming up with excuses.
