One thing that has bugged me inside ever since I finished the dash project is the fact that the red on the underside of the dash just stopped as it transitions into the gearstick surround.
I wanted it to ‘flow’ through and the easiest thing to do was to have the standard panel painted along the natural line. I therefore decided to replace my custom trimmed centre console with a stock item! I touched up the black section with new paint;
And then had the lower portion painted in a matching red
. So here it is fitted (poor phone pic sorry!);
Shame to get rid of the chrome oval gearstick surround – I really loved that. But it feels more ‘stock’ now as well as the colour/interior ‘flowing’ better which I think I prefer. I also fitted a new gear gaitor and hand brake gaitor whilst I was at it (black with red stitching to match seats etc.) and replaced the tired looking floor mats with new ones (black with red stitching to match the gaitors)
