Fitted on the stock bumper I use for rough stuff today I don't know what it is but the fitment is just better on this bumper compared to the facelift one, moved the exhaust back about an inch using the adjustable decat to stop it fowling the rear bumper and to see if it stops rattling so much although I'm pretty sure its rattling off the rear arb and I'm going to have work out what to do clearance wise but its not damaging anything for now, I think changing to stock droplinks will sort it as the blox ones seem to enable the bar to move about a fair bit. Standard pre track day check over, nothing I can see to worry about so looking forward to some track action at Japfest Saturday!

After my clutch gave up after 2 laps Saturday (yet to find out why) I've been left with a few decisions, so as I've got a few other things that need doing and not wanting to be bitten again with an even worse possibly engine killing situation all the other serviceable bits I've not done on this engine are getting sorted in the next couple weeks.

So its time to replace:-

Cambelt
Alternator Belt
PS Belt
Water Pump
Coolant Hoses
Stage 3 Clutch
New Slave Cylinder
Lightweight Flywheel
Fuel Filter

As part of the belts being replaced I'm going to put in some B18C4 Cams I have kicking around and paint up the the PS mount and engine torque mounts. At least with the clutch done I have scope to go with some more power if I want it (watch this space)

Anyway the Buddyclub was 98DB on the noise test, eeek thats close!

It's a shame to hear about the clutch buddy but the preventative maintenance plan sounds like a good idea

Thanks HowHard, first outing and it let me down, was pretty disappointed but glad I didn't stack it! 125 over Avon rise and not being able to down shift wasn't much fun! Also you have to be on the racing line regardless at some point here and being a slow moving car it would have been a target to get rear ended.

That's where I've ordered all the mitsuboshi belts from Karl :)

Finally got my gear box off last night after the usual trials with this sort of work and not having done this sort of jobin a while! Some bits came off easy like the drive shafts, some more troublesome like the bitch pin, in the end I took off the linkage from the stick end. I was pretty pleased once I got in to have a look and at least this explains what happened! For starts the slave was starting to fail, possibly contributing to this plate failure and one of the springs has popped out the friction plate and the plate split. Wear wise the clutch was ok, still a fair bit of life left in it until this, had no indication this was about to happen!

Looking forward to getting it back together this weekend and all torqued up with my new parts, then its time to put in the B18 cams I have and do all the belts, water pump and hoses which is childsplay in comparision, replace the rad with a stock one and a slimline fan so I have some more engine bay room. Toying with getting the cam cover powder coated or refurbed in wrinkle black.

Image

Went for an RPC stage 3 clutch, not sure on the quality of these so its a bit of a risk, time will tell and I'll probably find I should have gone with an Exedy Stage 2  . And a competition flywheel which looks well made.

Nothing like that first run after a rebuild, then all the seals you didn't replace start leaking and you have to take it apart again! :) Sure it will be fine though

Image

Managed to get part way through getting this back together yesterday afternoon, hopefully get it pretty much finished this afternoon. Then it will time to start the other rebuild bits

In terms of the clutch change its all nearly back together now, just have to bleed the new slave and flush out that old fluid put the airbox bits back on.

The hose kit I got from Tegiwa seems to have one hose thats too short to the heater control flow valve, Im going to take some better pics and measure it today and then send a snotty email. If it was a few MM you could lose it, but its like 2 inches and the hose is simply too short and not up to the job. Will get some better pics of this later

This is the second post I've seen in two days about Tegiwa supplying hoses that are too small for a b series. Obviously an issue there somewhere.
I got my full set of b series hoses from heavy set. Good quality and all fit. Good luck with getting it sorted solman.
