When I bought the car there was a crack in the paintwork on the passenger door, after buying a replacement door, I chipped off the paint to see what it looked like

Rusty as hell, and that's not the only bit of rust... :(

So that's both rear arches, the worst being the passenger side and a lot of rust hiding under the roof seal at the top of the passenger A pillar.
I've reached the point where I'm unhappy with the car as it stands and I need to decide on whether I get the rust fixed or I put it back to standard and get rid :? . Any car I end up getting will be a 90's Jap car though, because that's when they made cool/quick cars and they're likely to have the same bodywork issues!

Currently in love with a Toyota AE111 I saw on piston heads but it's nearly £4000

Sounds like you have made your mind up mate :( I guess just go and get some quotes to sort the rust so you make an informed decision.

Yeah I'm going to take it to get some quotes after I finish fitting the replacement door. TBH I'll probably end up keeping it, just I havent been able to drive for a couple of weeks due to some broken ribs!

After driving the sol for the first time since my accident yesterday, I am determined to keep it. I'll hopefully have new arches etc soon and have the car respectable enough for JAE come September :)

There is more rust hiding under the sill covers, it progressed scary fast

Image

The black stuff is where the rust has been temporarily treated with kurust recently
Been quoted between £300-500 per side for sill and rear arch, and a little more for the A pillar

Doubt I'll find a clean del sol vti or EG6 to swap into for around a grand, so its probably worth it right?
