Jay-DM's SiR Del Sol

Postby jaydmjackson » Wed Mar 27, 2013 3:13 pm

well its been 13 months since i first decided i wanted a del sol and i have been a member on here all that time, although ive not had anything to contribute up until now i have been absorbing all the great info on here.

So finally i managed to get my hands on an SiR, bought it for £1300 with 102000 kms on the clock, it needs a bit of TLC and a few things fixing but nothing im scared of. Anyway heres some pictures:

engine bay needs a tidy up and clean!

came fitted with a massive spoiler which wasnt to my tast so removed it, still need to remove the silicone then make a carbon roof ;)

heres the spoiler removed, was a lot harder to get off that i thought it would be, for sale if anyone wants it.

plans so far are:
  • fit standard rear lights
  • remove tints from the windows
  • fix CEL (intake air temperature sensor)
  • fix transtop (code 7)
  • make carbon roof, boot lid and bonnet
  • change wheels
  • fit coilovers and new LCA's
  • full respray

Thanks for looking!

This is the one thats been on gumtree for sale , looks smart but good choice of getting rid of the BGW. Does it need a re-spray then?

BGW? It doesn't need one but I'm a sprayer and a perfectionist so will end up doing it at some point down the road. Yeah got it off gumtree. Thought there would be a lot of problems but there was only a few little bits, I suppose some people would be intimidated by it.

www.greenlightinsurance.co.uk are a cracking company for insuring this sort of car... they are more than happy with all mods etc. All they ask for when they have given you a quote is pictures of the car and a list of all the mods. They then replace like for like if anything happens. And the plus side is your are also insured on the track as well as the public highway!

Looks pretty nice mate! You going to do a colour change or just a blowover? Would be a bonus if that was a genuine Mugen front bumper. Don't often see them with the fogs fitted either. 8)

Not sure if it is real, how can I tell? Other than an emblem on it?

I think that's pretty much it mate, I think the genuine one is still fibreglass, not polyurethane or anything. Should be a marking on the inside? But others will know more than me - never been a brand whore!

I'll have to have a look at some point. Not bothered if it is either way really. Wouk be a bonus if it is like. I wouldn't mind some new seats and I like s2000 ones but everyone does that. Anybody have any other ideas? Not too expensive though haha
