rebuild / respray update pics 2016

Postby battscrxvti » Thu May 03, 2012 6:36 pm

time for for me to turn my many threads and pictures into one sol life story this is the story of my sol man and boy

im 27 now and when i was 19 i brought a completey standard

1993
honda crx vti
103k
manual
manual roof

but two weeks after i brought it , it got hit up the arse and they wanted to write it off but i saved it and got it repaired , then 6 months later my mum used it and hit a stoped car with a tow bar about 40 mph and totalled the front end but i didnt throw it away i got it jigged new slam panel and complete front end

then the modding started

i put 15's on and didnt like them so got some 16's

i then had a friend tint the windows sliver because no one had them done , put a astra front spliter on painted the rocker cover red and tinted rear lights and lowered it 40mm on spax springs

Image

Image

Image

Image

i then had a little boy and split with his mum and work on the casr stopped for about a year to 18 months then i meet you bloodly lot on here

Image

then i put a mesh grill on and new manifold

Image

Image

i then added a eg vti lip and black one piece head lights

Image

i then picked up some jdm s2k seats so took base pans out the sol seats and swapped with the s2k ones and runners

Image

Image

Image

Image

next came the vis carbon bonnet

Image

Image

then i changed the air filer and painted the wheels ( in my mums kitchen lol )

Image

Image

it was then time for a respray and rust fixing

i striped the car down and sent it to the body shop when it was in there i repainted the wheels and got my self some 282 mm brakes

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

when it was in the body shop i got the front number plate smoothed off i also changed the colour from the captiva blue B62 to the later spec captiva blue pearl B62p
and found the rare of rareness MS design rear spolier and got that painted and fitted myself

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

i then changed the air filter again and spend lots of money on skunk2 coilpvers

Image

Image

then the car see a bit of trax action

Image

Image

then silver stone left rally school open

Image

and it see santa pod a few time s

Image

then i colour coded the door handles and the mirrors and fitted jdm mud flaps

Image

Image

also fitted a cat back exhaust and de cat

srs G55 or G50 cant remember which one system

and a datum1 tow eye

Image

then i got bored of it and started to build a b20 vtec for it

b20z bottom end
b16 head with 15 thou skim
98 spec itr cams
itr inlet and throttle body
megan racing cams
arp rod bolts

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

so it was in and running , tuned by daz over at dnr and running sweet i ran in the 300 miles then BANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the oil pump failed bottom end blew and pistons hit valves

so engine out and part

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

so after about a year another girl friend and alot of being pissed off with it i got hold of a b16 to get it running again

so old with the b20 and back in with a b16

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

all in and sorted time to start driving again , new tax new mot job done ...................................

T
H
E
N

30 miles down the road in milton keynes i get noises and things from clutch and box

broken the clutch monkey pile it self and did fly wheel bolts and few things so time to get the b16 out again and the box , i then did alot of thinking about breaking the car ? keep b16 , b18 ? b16 turbo or b20 again

then a very good friend of mine simon game ( ghettofab ) said he was breaking his b20 eg coupe so back down the b20 route i went and i got this from him ( this in its old home )

b20z block
golden eagle b20 vtec conv
b16 head

is what i brought from him

Image

i sold the old bits from my dead engine to get this so kept it fairly standard

stock b20 bottom end
stock b16 head

itr inlet manifold and tb
2.2 prelude injectors

and then back in with another engine

Image

once it was back in i run it on si's ecu for a few hundred miles to know every thing was safe as he had it , then i took it over to daz @ endless now worked his magic and mapped the old girl

then i took rocker cover off painted it blue oval rust bag rs orange , then i spoke to maz @ hond-r and got a lovely carbon cover to hide the injectors

and this is about how she looks today

Image

Image

Image

Image

this is 8 years man and boy i have had this car longer then i have had my son and dont think i could ever part with it too much love , blood sweat and tears in it now

thank for looking

Loving the write up. Amazing how time flies. You can tell from the pics of Kallum. :D

I remember your Mum not being too keen on the wheel painting in her kitchen.

On a side note did you get a hold of that guy about the wing?

Yup Mine has Nitrogen in them too...  I even posted it on here if anyone else had ever used it.. :!: :!:
Do you find it makes a difference to the handling / Performance.... Great minds think alike :D :D

What power gains could you expect from Putting a Turbo on a B20 and what Mods would you have to do to the Block to stop it from Blowing. :?: I was looking into this but was advised against it ... But do I listen...

Will be keeping my eye on this thread and may pinch a few Ideas off you... :P :P
Are you bringing Kallum next weekend...!!
