Well i managed to get on with a few more bits while i was home. Started slowly trying to get the finishing bits done on the aluminium intercooler ducting.

Image

Image

Then did some minor fillering on my VT door after ive fitted and glassed the door cap on

Image

Bonded some bolts onto the skirts to make fit/remove a bit easier.

Image

Did some messing wit the locks so the door and caps fits right. This pics for the cage colour rather than proving i actually do some work

Image

I have a few aero idea that im going to go with but untill i can get the time to design and make them properly im going for some easy bolt on bits just to get the car on the track quicker. Got the canards fitted first

Image

And some winglets which if im honest i hate (theyre far too civiclife and scene) but will do untill ive designed and made my splitter.

Image

Image

Cheeky lil push of the car sinse it was a nice day i could work on the front outside but also we massivly needed to clean up. The underside of the car was packed up with fibreglass and filler dust

Image

Image

And some shameless pic whoring whilst the front end was out of the garage

Image

Image

Image

The lights arent properly fitted yet so excuse the gaps. Just wanted an idea of what theyd be like all knocked together. All comments welcome as usual :D

Finally a bit of progress!!!

Ive been away for the last four months so havent had any physical work to do on it. BUT i had pushed to get the car ready for paint and whilst i was away it went in to get painted. Well it came back, unfortunately the camera really doesnt show off the colour of the paint enough but it looks absolutely stunning :D

Light was going when i picked the car up so just grabbed some quick snaps

Image

Image

Image

Next day i decided to pull the car out of the garage for a nosey. Also for a laugh i sprayed the wheels body coloured (need refurbing anyway). I actually really like it so its staying that way (opinions welcome)

Image

Big gay wing. This is getting ALOT of work and im custom making the end plates as i need it functional. I really dont want it looking gash so going to take my yime with this bit. Its just plonked on in this picture

Image

Thought id have a look with the bumper roughly in place and the intercooler etc

Image

Image

Doors back off as my garage is tiny so need to be able to get in and out without damaging anything

Image

The rebuilt front bumpers turned out pretty well

Image

Image

Cage unwrapped

Image

Hydraulic handbrake and standard handbrake fitted. Started fitting the fuel system

Image

Pedal box triangulation points finished and started fitting the cylibders. Hopefully tomorrow ill get engine in and brake system finished.

Image

Image

Hopefully have a lot more updates over the next few weeks but thats how it stands so far. Enginbes the next major step and then it should start coming together quite quickly. As usual all comment and opinions welcome :D

Cheers everyone. Yeah couldnt wait, he kept sending me the od picture with it half covered which made things twice as bad haha.

Its not mate, the colour i had on the Sol was Aston Martin Tungsten grey which had a browny gold tinge. This is S2000 moonrock grey so looks a similar grey but in the sunlight has a lilacy purple tinge to it. Im really please with how its turned out to be honest

Re: My MK2 turbo restoration

Cheers guys. Well bit more progress, the car tends to come on in leaps when im not feeling completely dead

First priority before engine fit was to complete the underside of the car. Idea being we wouldnt have to mess aroung jacking the front up again once the weight of the engine and gubbins was in.

Started with the fuel tank which id stripped, anti-rust pimed with some pretty hardcore MIO and hammerited. We also modified the pump plate to accept the -6 fittings and made a cradle to take the Walbro 255 lift pump.

Image

Image

Next up was the ASR subframe brace and rear anti-roll bar. Although id already drilled for it etc i left it off for paint and underseal as i didnt want to get it minging. It also made things easier jacking the car

Image

Image

First system to be commissioned!! Handbrake cables all attached (cheers Sherb) and final plumbing for home made lines done.

Image

Next was the big job... engine fit. This wasnt a big job from difficulty but from the fact the B16A2 with hydro box on has about 10mm clearance total and my shiny paint job

Image

Image

Image

Fitted with no scratches!! The rear mount was a bit of a pain but we got there with it eventually!!

Image

Bit of a clearanc check with the arious manifolds

Re: My MK2 turbo restoration

Postby tubbyandy » Sun Sep 08, 2013 12:04 pm

Came across a snag. With the increased tuning i decided to finally do a decent job upgrading my breather system. I removed the black box and have added two -10 block breather ports along with two -10 and a -6 rocker ports. On the back of the block due to all the fittings and extra sensors im having a struggle fitting my sandwich plate which i need to feed oil to the heat exchanger as it fouls on the water pipe and pretty much everything else!!

Sooooo with some cutting and welding of the water pipe and a spare silicon top radiator hose we made a bypass piece so we can still have the fittings in the best possible place. All we needd to do now is brace the pipes so they dont fire out when the water pressurises

Image

3inch downpipe offered up for clearance

Image

Gear linkage all fitted and tested to make sure it wasnt catching as the lever sits slightly further back with the swap mounts. Also finished running the braided lines and handbrake bits

Image

Traction bar repainted and fitted. Bit of a beast f a piece of kit so hopefully itll make a difference. Also the new alloy adaptor for my new turbo oil return which i still need to knock up

Image

Image

And some last shots from last night. just finished running the heat exchanger oil hoses and the water piework. todays job will be to sort the new turbo water feed as i now have no heater to run them from (thik im going to tap the head for a fresh source).

Image

Image

As always all comments welcome
