Many thanks for your comments.
Aaran, had a quote from a company called SPL Surface Proccessing Ltd, they specialise in stripping and coating, quote" A unique chemical process, no blasting, no stress, no mess. The best available process for preparation and restoration. Fully zinc phosphated with electrphoretic immerion coating offering the ultimate in corrosion protection" advertised in Practical Classic mag and quoted me £1350?
Memphis, thanks for that will take you up on that if I can? Had 2 quotes to ship EGKI mounts $575 to buy and $230 to post!!!!!!!
ForeverJDM seems to be on the ball $45 to post??? sounds too cheap?

k20a.org is the best source around. if you find the deals i'll try to help out shipping. sounds like the weight of the package is going to the big cost on the larger items. just let me know.

What a task!

Early days, but someone on here somewhere is selling brand new roof seals all round for £200 IIRC. Would be an uber saving on the £600+ you'll be charged from Mr Honda.

Good luck anyway! Bet you were gutted when you had to sell the orange sol, that was gorgeous!

Should be nice when it's done, just outta interest what reg will that be when you register it as I assume that shell was never used as a car. Would it be an 07/57 or whatever when you register it?

Postby yorkshireladpj » Wed May 16, 2007 8:01 pm

Thanks guys and gal's, Memphisraines has been a great help with looking for parts, kind of stop him in his tracks!!! :?
Going to Z Cars on Saturday morning to meet with Richard. Everyone has said and its been a goal to PUT IT IN THE REAR!!!!!!! :D
Richard has been approached by someone already to rear engine a Sol but the money involved in stripping and building is quite alot.
Someone with a spare bare shell hanging around could help the cause.
We have had a little chat about costs and how to minimise them and it sounds really good!! Use the shell as a template and design a kit for everyone to buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
CANT WAIT, LIKE A KID IN A CANDY STORE!!!!

Keep you updated!!!!!

ask him how much it would be to mount a k20 or b series INTO a rear space frame (just bolt+weld the space fram into a cut out sols boot), probably much easyer and faster to build than welding a front end into the rear. also when it comes to copying its going to be a peice of piss.

cheers

Thats the plan of attack! build a tubular frame that sits in the boot of the Sol bolted, not welded, to the chassis, basically where the floor is, not much cop for trans top cars or electric back window, so that it is completely removable, fuel cell in the front with radiator, air intake through the fuel filler flap etc etc and also if you went to an extreme you could still leave the front end in tact??? 1.8 Integra type R in the front and a K20 built in the back!!!! WOW how cool would that be???
Check out http://www.zcars.org.uk and look at the Saxo they did, same principle, not like the mini!

wont work very well, you really want 2 of the same engines in a twin engined car running a 50/50 power split, not to mention the work involved to run gear linkages, maybe go for 2 shifters like that twin bike engine kit car.

you could drop a b16 in the rear, fit a huge ass turbo and top mount manifold, and in the front end shove a large water intercooler (maybe 40 litres capacity+ huge ass rad) and go for a watercooler setup :D plenty of space avaliable and would give it a much better weight distribution :D

Wow! sounds too complicated to me!
Just going for the K20 in the frame in the rear, all the suspension front/rear and roll cage is supplied with the kit I just supply the hubs I want. Fuel cell and Rad in the front, just get the tubular work done to make the rolling shell, then I will need a A1 paint job for the shell then try to get all the electrics sorted through the Hondata K-Pro ecu, not going to be easy for a pen pusher..
Once its painted, rolling and running, registration, tax and test is not an issue, I can concentrate on the engine, possibly super charger rather than turbo, will have done clutch and cams before it goes in. Kit supplied provides drive shafts up to 500bhp!
