Hi guys.

My aerial is letting in water. Anyway I can fix it? Should I seal it from the inside and maybe a bit of clear sealant on the outside and that's all I can do?

Depends if the metal is good and solid around it? If its bad probably best to get shot and cut out the bad and paint it otherwise its always gonna leak and make the arch go even quicker from the inside out

Paintwork looks solid from the outside and inside. I think there is a gap and when it rain or I clean my car, the water just runs down inside the car and sits in the rear quarterand starts munching its way through my love metal work.

I've never taken my aerial apart, so not sure on this, but it sounds like it could be loose. Is there any way of tightening things up to close the gap?
If not, I would suggest taking the aerial apart and using sealant when you put it back in. Sealant on the outside might be the best bet though, so you don't trap moisture in the gap.

Well you better check it mate. If you have any rust between the back tyre and the door just above the side skirt, your aerial might be leaking. If that's the case, take your rear interior out and look behind the seat belts. Best way to see is get your phone, put it on the camera, start a video with the flash on and use that as a mirror.

I think the way I'm going to fix mine is seal the back part of the aerial (which butts up to the interior of the car) and then seal the bit you can see from outside. I can't see a way of tightening the aerial itself. Then I'll check if it's leaking by sprayed my aerial with a hose pipe.

As said I'd get rid of it, I had mine plated and painted over, you used to be able to get a blank plug for it, not sure if they sell them anymore.

As said you don't want the arch to rust from the inside

I think some serious sealing around the aerial, I think I'll stop it.

Doesn't the aerial have a tube coming out of the bottom which is for water to pass through and then drip down to exit through the rear quarter section? This is from memory, so I could well be wrong, but I seem to recall water is supposed to be able to pass through the middle section. They do seem to rust around the edge though, where the rubber/plastic base of the aerial meets the bodywork, which suggests water does get in there over time. So perhaps it wouldn't hurt to get a little bit of sealant around the edges (I certainly did mine). Just make sure it's nice and dry first, or you'll be trapping in moisture.

Another thing... are you certain it's coming in through there? Just thinking that with the water there, it could be a few things (sail panels spring to mind)...

either seal it or eliminate it completely using a piece of metal ..
