Noticed it a couple of times... coming down from high speed i've noticed i'm getting a really bad fade on my brakes... i actually over shot a set of lights earlier by about 5 ft at the end of a motorway/dual carriageway.

its happened a couple of times now.. theres plenty of meat on the pads, I only changed them last summer

cars a 97 esi, discs all around.

that the same size as a SIRs brakes?

if so what other options have i got on improving the braking distance? (without spending huge amounts of cash plz!)

ta!

Standard brakes are mush, buy some MG Calipers and you can enjoy very good braking and on pads that costs about £20 8)

What pads you got on?

is there any chance the rear calipers are sticking? - you might not notice so much compared to the front but worth a look.

yeah i'm pretty sure the rear drivers side isnt too clever.... what difference would that make to the overall braking of the car...?

and the mg calipers... this a part of the whole zg upgrade thats a sticky?

Load detector? Happened on mine, had it changed and brakes were sweet. Just a thought.

Try give them all a good overhaul. Dismantle the sliders from the callipers, clean&regrease sliders. Also give the pads and discs a rub down with some wet n dry as they may have glazed a little.

Sticking calipers? Very common problem with Honda Civic variants including the Del Sol once they get older. Changed my rear calipers for recon ones and noticed quite an improvement in brake efficiency. If your handbrake is pretty weak & ineffective then it's likely your footbrake force to the rear wheels is not quite what it should be as well since they both act on the same piston.
