cheers mate you're a legend :D . Thats exactly how mine 'clicks', so the numbers must be wrong - very weird, but then this car keeps surprising me  ! I knew I had cc but didnt really think anything of it.

I will refit everything back in tomorrow, and test the auto function/climate control and full power etc. It will probably turn out to be working just fine once I get my head around to taking no notice of the numbers! All I thought it needed was a simple resistor replacing haha!

So I guess Ill need to find the proper front panel now...

Thanks,
Chris :)

does this have anything to do with climate cars vs non climate.

IE . you have dial labeled 1-4 if you dont have it

you have the gradual increments if you do have it , along with the auto functions.

I think that maybe someone has replaced your stickers as if they are anything like mine they are quite worn and look a little shabby.
they probably didnt relise there are two part numbers

The ones with "auto" are for automatic climate control. You set the temperature, the system does the rest.

The indications around the dial aren't stickers, you can simply replace the whole ring. Pull the knob out, and you'l see a little screw holding the ring in place.

Are the heater units specific for LHD and RHD? If have a LHD and the cable from my heater control to the heater attaches on the right hand side. Same with RHD cars?

Well, it may be a sticker, but the way to replace the indications IMHO is to replace the plastic ring they are stuck to. This is a separate piece, not fixed to the whole unit, but screwed in place. Remove the knob and you'll see what I mean.

yeh you're right Rip - its all one piece, but the numbers are on a sticker round the outside - absolute biatch to get the sticker off so may as well just replace the surround. Anyone with epc want to tell me the different part numbers for the dial surround? pretty please..

How about putting your dial back on so that it lines up with the numbers

On the nob that the dial attachs to, theres a small metal clip that helps hold the dial in place (and also dictates the alignment of the dial). Just try and move this slightly to the left / right as needed before re-assembling.
Then with a pliers, move the nob so that your heater is full on, put the dial back on pointing to #4.

I think it would be easier to just replace the dial surround tbh mate. The locating lug on the spindle only allows the dial to be put on one way, and the increments on the clicks wouldn't line up with all the numbers 1-4 anyway.

Has no one got EPC then? I should be getting a copy soon anyway

Probably a leaf in the blower. Take it out and clean it from dirt.

That Auto settin on mine is rubbish, and the temp - I get boiled at 30, then one tiny click down (29 ish) and Its freezing! And the Auto seems to permenantly just blast the air at full speed!
However, it seems to work when I hit the AC button. But I htought it shold work like that whether AC is on or off.
I've cleaned out my CC Fan behind the drivers seat (Angry wasp syndrome) And that seemed to make no difference.

the fan will blow a lot the first time you press the auto button, because it is trying to get the cabin temperature to the level the slider is at. After a while, the fan will get quieter and not put so much out or even stop once the temp has been reached - I thought the same when I first pressed it but if you wait a while (more so if you have the slider all the way to the left or right) you will be ok. Never used the ac button in mine yet....

Ah, right, maybe I've not been giving it long enough. I'll try it tonight. Just out of interest, where are the temperature sensors in the cabin? Is the only one that one directly behind the CC fan at the rear of the drivers seat?

There is one at the dash as well. If you look between the fixed air vent at the driver's window and where the dials sit (sorry not ver descriptive!), you'll see a little black plastic cap. If you take that off you'll see another sensor.
