i found the best way to clean them was to remove the interior and attack it from there also ..its a bit of a squeeze but then you get the whole pipe done ...not the easiest job though but worth it i thought

I know more today than yesterday .....but less than tomorrow ....
So finally today I sorted out the drains, turns out the exits of the drains were blocked from the rubber nipper thing.so this was hacked off with a Stanley blade , cleared the top part and chucked some water down and a satisfying dribble of water came out the bottom. I'd recommend just cutting the nipple peice off first of when u get the car anyway seems they stick together and block up easy. Anyways the sail panel takes a bit of force but it's so great once some.
The exit bit seems prone to getting blocked. I don't really understand the purpose of the design, as it'd make a lot more sense to me if it was just an open exit.
Hey, I can do better than that for you, Have a Rank !!!
hummm i may need to do this when i strip the car in the summer, regarding the white clips and when they break can you buy replacement ones or can you re uses the old broken ones? if so how and what did you do to fix and refit so all is secure?
reason i am asking is i have the constant cloud of sod's law above me when working on things like this an all my clips will snap (or already be snapped!?) and i will have to some how work a way out to secure them again....
Finally got round to doing mine so many thanks to contributors to this "how to" which made the job so much easier. I think I was lucky as only one side of mine was blocked and it did not appear that the sails had ever been removed, probably because my 'sol has fortunately been garaged for most of its old life. Only points I would make is to use sealant round all 8 clips/locators and when the sail clips break (as they certainly will) is to bond /repair then with quick drying epoxy resin and then carefully relocate.
