Install those Indiglo dials

Postby Paulm » Tue Aug 08, 2006 6:33 pm

I think myself and a couple of others have had various pm’s over the last couple of months asking fitting these and if its easy/hard etc. So heres a quide with piccies to help you all out.

This is specifically for the dials that Gary has supplied through the group buy, but I would imagine all other dials will need to follow the steps upto point 5.

Ok, here we go!

1. First off you’ll need to take off the dash surround, you can see two screws here by the arrows
Image

2. Once unscrewed, pull the surround towards you, not too hard, and unclip the wiring looms that you see
Image

3. Now unscrew these 3 screws to the left, right and above the cluster
ImageImageImage

4. You’ll see two wiring looms attached, undo these
Image

Hey presto, your cluster is now freely in your hands to put those dials in!

5. Ok, on the cluster you’ll see 4 metal clips around the top you’ll need to take these off, also if you have some sticky foam on the underneath of the cluster then take this off too
Image

6. You should now find the front plastic will come off and then put your new dials on. There is NO NEED to either take off the needles or remove the existing dials. I simply used a bit of double sided tape to secure the new dials to the old.

7. Once you have fitted them and put the leads how you like them( I haven’t included pics as theres so many variations on this) you’ll need to put the front back on.

8. Now you need to wire in the transformer to the lights power. Here is where they need to go, and this is on the right side loom as you are sitting in the car. Red to red, black to black. Dont use the blac ktape like ive done, solder them in (i just havent got round to it yet)
Image

9. Now just put everything back together and your all done :D

How do you get the milage reset pin off the dial face? Tried to put in a new dial surround today and couldn't get the pin off. Was frightened of breaking it.

Can you get these for an ESi? And are they specifically made for the car so that all the right numbers are in all the right places?

Just looked back and found that you can....

Are they any good? im sure i remember someone slating them on here... :?:

I really like mine, the only little things that annoy me are: at dusk it's a bit weird, not quite dark enough for the blue glow to show up and too dark for the white to be bright if you see what I mean, and the inverter whines a little (can't hear it when the car's running though.

Mine are slightly different I think:
